Learning Log 11: My Evaluation Rubric Based upon the reading of this module and the evaluation rubrics introduced in Modules 6 and 7, what are the top 6 evaluation dimensions that are important and appropriate in your subject discipline and grade level? Identify these evaluation dimensions and elaborate/justify them in details by citing sources introduced in this course.
Rigor Using the rigor dimension I believe that the skills of processes through the engagement is what will help hold the attention of our students. Many educators use this piece to analyze the level of engaging tasks and to provide multiple assessments when challenging students. As we have learned in our modules that the DOK wheel is split into sections/levels. The rigor will keep students involved and assess each one on different levels that are appropriate for third grade.
Connections to Future Learning Our state standards help provide the framework for each generation believing that the science and each generation leads and advances from year to year. Students are expected to be prepared by the standards so that they can be college and career ready. These skills build upon each other year after year and have been stretched and reinforced as new studies are explored and found. The foundational skills and knowledge for the future expands its dimensions as we apply each ability to our third grade skills. As we move forward and plan for our third grade standards we remember and see that technology also advances from year to year.
Feedback to Teacher The feedback to the teacher is a way that helps give feedback to the learners as we see how each one progresses. Technology based learning has shifted throughout the years but you still see the responsibility of the teacher when choosing what app/game is best based when applying what standard. Using the apps are the second most important piece when applying learning. The instruction of data when addressing the most missed questions or mistakes are crucial when planning and implementing new lessons moving forward. This is why I chose feedback to the teacher to be essential! Level of Learning Material The level of learning relates with the rigor of each dimension as we target the groups of learners through the learning material. The audience in which you target gives critical thinking to students and how they engage to pull through the learning results. I see many students in units find themselves bored or with a loss of interests. It is important to not overwhelm students with the learning material but also keep students engaged by always introducing a set skill of new thoughts so that students will feel that are applying previous learning to new set skills. Cooperative Learning Cooperative learning is so important when designing each lesson for students. Students should be given opportunities to express their thoughts with other students and have the opportunity to change their thinking as they hear from their peers. This makes the learning stronger when students are able to analyze and self-reflect after cooperating with learners. This provides social and instructional plans moving forward so students can better perform and carry out tasks.
Accommodation of Individual Differences Accommodations are our duties when giving and planning lesson plans. It is important to understand that every child is starting a lesson at a different level so that when we plan our lesson we have them in mind. We want to connect higher order thinking to all student's yet providing accommodations to students with learning disabilities and styles. As an educator each lesson needs to have this in mind so that language barriers can be met along with diverse knowledge opportunities. Individual differences matters and need to be supported!
