The Future of Creativity...
Gabe Zichermann's video provided several examples of how gaming stimulates the brain. One example he gave was the DOPAMINE: Wonder Drug example. While providing students with excitement and challenge at the same time this causes a chemical to be released inside our brains that stimulates from driven rewards. These games are also examples of how intrinsic motivations become evident when having opportunities to gain rewards. This then, produces the want and drive for students to interact within all levels of learning. Gabe Zichermann also mentioned how through these online games that it allows failure to happen without any huge punishment or consequence. When the last life is taken on a video game or however it is programmed you then have the option to press, "retry." This makes failing not feel so bad and that there is an option to try a new idea or concept to move to the next level. Through this video I also learned that finding your talent and skill was important when setting students up for success in the outside world. Gamification leads the road for new creativity to unleash itself. When we as educators collectively allow gaming and students to connect and provide these opportunities together for the new innovative creation of our future that lays ahead, we will WIN! |
